Set it up

There’s nothing to switch on. Newt traces every join to the invite it came through, as long as it has Manage Server (to read your invites) and Manage Channels (to hear about new ones). Newt’s invite link asks for both.

How invites are counted

Every join through somebody’s invite counts once. Then: Total = regular - left - fake + bonus. A fake that leaves is only taken off once. Rejoins count by default: somebody coming back counts again for whoever invited them this time. Change the fake threshold (0 to 365 days, 0 turns it off) and whether rejoins count on the dashboard’s Invites tab. Both apply to every join already recorded.

See somebody’s invites

Shows their total and breakdown, how they joined and who invited them, the last six months, and the people they brought in most recently. Leave out member to see your own.
Ten to a page, each marked still here, left, fake (and why) or not counted.
All time, or the last 30 days, 7 days or 24 hours. A window counts the people who joined in it. Bonus invites only count toward all time.

Change someone’s invites

Up to 10,000 at a time. Handy when moving over from another bot.
Up to 10,000 at a time. A total can go below zero this way.
Start one member, or everybody, from zero. Leave out member to reset everybody, after a confirm button. Bonus invites go too. Nothing is deleted, so rejoins are still spotted.
Give an invite a name, like Twitter or Partners, to see where people come from. Add a role and everybody who joins through that link gets it.
Remove a name with /invites label remove <code>. Name the vanity link with its code or vanity. Up to 10 names, or 50 with Premium.
Newt’s role must sit above the role a link gives. Newt never gives roles with dangerous permissions or Newt moderator powers.

On the dashboard

The Invites tab, under Insights on the dashboard, has:
  • The leaderboard’s top 100, for all time, 30 days, 7 days or 24 hours.
  • Top invite codes: joins, how many stayed a week and the fake rate for each invite. Invites with the same name share a row. Fake joins don’t count toward staying.
  • Counting rules: the fake threshold and whether rejoins count.
  • Invite link names, the same as /invites label set.
  • The invite blacklist: members and roles that earn no invites. It’s checked when somebody joins, so it only affects joins from then on.
  • Hidden from the leaderboard: members who keep earning invites but aren’t shown.
  • Reset everyone’s invites, behind a tick box.
Up to 25 blacklisted members, 25 blacklisted roles and 25 hidden members, or 100 each with Premium.

In welcomes and the log

Put {inviter}, {inviter_name}, {invites}, {invite_code} or {invite_label} in your welcome and goodbye messages. The server log shows the invite and who made it on every join and leave.

Good to know

  • Joins Newt can’t trace count for nobody: Discovery, bots adding people, or two people joining at the same moment through different links. Newt never guesses.
  • The vanity link is its own source, not anybody’s invite.
  • Rejoins are spotted from Newt’s own records. Somebody who left before Newt was added counts as new.
  • Accounts the join gate turns away don’t count.
  • Temporary invites don’t give their role, since a role would keep those members for good.
  • Joins Newt recorded before 6 October 2026 count too.
Permission: /invites show, list, leaderboard and codes are for everyone. bonus, reset, label and the Invites tab need Manage Server.
