# Retention and Discovery

> See how many new members stay, and check if you're ready for Server Discovery.

How many people who joined are still here.

Checks your server against what Discord's Server Discovery asks for, and says what's blocking you.

It checks Community, a rules channel, a moderator updates channel, media scanning, verification level, two-factor for mods, member count, server age, the server icon and description, and Newt's own 7-day retention figure.

<Note>
  Discord also weighs how many visitors talk and come back. No bot can see those. Find them in **Server Settings → Server Insights**. Discord has the final say.

The dashboard's **Insights** tab shows:

* Joins and leaves over time
* How long people stay
* Top invite codes, ranked by how many people **stayed**
* CSV downloads of joins and leaves, ratings and cases ([Premium](/help/premium))

## <Icon icon="circle-info" size={24} /> Good to know

* Join and leave records are kept 180 days, or 365 with Premium.
* Accounts turned away by [new account protection](/moderation/automod#new-account-protection) don't count as joins.
