# Question of the Day: Daily Engagement for Your Server

> Post one question per day to a channel at a scheduled time with role pings — add up to 500 questions one by one or paste a JSON list.

Question of the Day keeps your server active by posting a fresh conversation prompt every day at the time you choose. You write the questions, Newt posts them in order, and the roles you nominate get a ping each time. It's one of the simplest ways to give members something to talk about without any manual effort on your part.

## Setting it up

    Go to the dashboard, open your server, and find **Question of the day**. Switch it on, pick the channel where questions should appear, choose the hour (UTC) to post each day, and tick the roles you want Newt to ping.

    Write questions one per line in the text box, or paste a JSON list in the format `{"questions": ["...", "..."]}` — the same format you get if you ask an AI to generate a list for you. Save, and Newt starts posting at the next scheduled hour.

## Worth knowing

**Questions post in order, then loop.** Newt works through your list from top to bottom. When it reaches the last question, it starts over from the beginning. Each server holds up to 500 questions, and each question can be up to 300 characters long.

**Plain text only.** Newt rejects a pasted list that isn't a clean list of short strings and explains why, so nothing changes until you fix it. `@everyone` and `@here` inside a question never trigger a ping — only the roles you explicitly ticked in the dashboard settings will be notified.

**Post a question immediately.** Run `/qotd now` in Discord or click the **Post one now** button on the dashboard to fire the next question right away. This counts as today's question, so the scheduled post won't double up.
